OK, I don’t understand some of the ways you’re reacting to these deaths.
You said you didn’t want to have kids because you were afraid you’d come home to find your partner had killed them…. I’d think right off the bat that you wouldn’t have partnered with someone who was likely to go nuts and kill his kids. That’s a pretty pessimistic take on your ability to find a good guy to share your life with. Even if you’d rushed into the relationship w/o getting to know one another well, by the time you decide to have kids together … come on! I really hope you don’t think you’re somehow doomed to end up with a psycho partner from hell.
As far as ethnicity goes, sure, the examples you’re seeing atm may all involve foreign people, but if you went through all the news in the US I have to believe you’d find that plain old whitebread Americans go off the deep end too, killing themselves, their kids, their parents, their neighbors, whatever. But these people are the exception, not the rule, and I don’t see why anyone (not counting drug addicts, certified lunatics, etc., of course) should be worried that he or she is likely to end up involved in one of these ugly scenarios. Without a doubt it’s more likely that you’ll get killed in a car accident, and not too many people worry about that all the time.
And finally, about the guy who killed his parents: you said they were in their 60s and that he didn’t have long to wait for them to die anyway. What! They could easily have 20+ years ahead of them. My parents are in their 70s and doing just fine.
I hope you were just having a bad day when all this stuff happened and that you’re feeling a lot better!
